I’ve been spending a lot of time recently tuning the candid, nostalgic look of vintage DV, early CCD, and dreamcore aesthetics. Here are 10 of my tested prompt sets, each accompanied by test generations. Feel free to copy and use them in your own workflows.
If you want to maintain facial consistency like I do, simply prepend this instruction at the very beginning of your prompt:
The reference image serves as the character’s facial reference: strictly maintain identical face shape, features, and facial appearance to match the person in the reference image; render hairstyle, makeup, wardrobe, pose, scene, and image texture strictly according to the description below.
If you prefer generating fresh faces each time, omit the reference image and generate directly with text-to-image.

A few tips for working with these prompts:
- To lock a face, use minimal makeup and front or three-quarter angles. Heavy makeup or heavily obstructed faces tend to pull the model’s facial geometry off-model.
- Low digital resolution, slight blur, subtle highlight blooming, film grain, and motion blur are the foundation of the vintage look. Drop any one of them and the effect loses its charm.
- Hands can be tricky: adding explicit anatomically accurate descriptions helps avoid odd finger shapes in full-body shots.
- The more specific the scene lighting and setting (exact time of day, direction of light, real background objects), the more the generation feels like an authentic photograph rather than a staged 3D render.
